Bullying is one of the most difficult issues students face in the world today. Even with a school’s best efforts, students may still experience bullying in classrooms, school hallways, the lunchroom, and the playground. For these reasons, Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship adopted the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program during the 2013-2014 school year. This program is largely considered the most effective program in prevention and correction of bullying within schools as well as developing a safe school and classroom environment. Implemented at the school, classroom, and individual levels, the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program is designed to reduce bullying, prevent future bullying, and improve relationships at every level.
It is PHCSE’s goal to reduce and prevent bullying problems amongst our scholars and to improve peer relations on school grounds. It has been proven through data collection that the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program has been found to reduce bullying among children, improve the social climate of classrooms, and reduce related antisocial behaviors, such as truancy.
