Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship adopted the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program during the 2013-2014 school year. This long-term program targets behavior at the individual, classroom, school, and community levels. The goal of the program is to recognize bullying, identify warning signs of bullying and understand the impact bullying has on the climate of the school.
Each classroom has a daily “community meeting” during which bullying is addressed. Kindergarten and first grade meet for 20 minutes, while second grade through middle school meet for 30 minutes. In addition to the daily regular, each teacher uses the same bullying lesson from the Olweus Teachers Guide on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Other bullying prevention initiatives include annual walk-a-thons, million t-shirt march, & rallies.
