PHCSE athletics are open to 6-8th-grade academically eligible students. The dedicated, experienced coaching staff teaches our Eagles the importance of teamwork, respect for the games, and how to develop their athletic abilities on and off the playing field or court.
The athletic program at Penn Hills Charter School works in conjunction with all other aspects of the school. It has been developed as an extension of the classroom setting.
Students may select from four interscholastic sports that compete in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL). Our current sports teams are boys and girls basketball, cross country, and volleyball. Because of this affiliation, and the shared philosophy of all member schools, our athletics are highly competitive in nature; teams must, therefore, be prepared thoroughly and extensively. These students are offered educational and athletic opportunities to provide skills that will develop positive citizens, confident leaders, and productive student-athletes geared toward success when they move on to 9th grade.
Students have to be enrolled in the after-school Soaring in Steam program in order to participate in interscholastic sports.
