Bill Of Rights
We have the right to a safe and healthy environment. No student, teacher, or visitor may create a situation that is unsafe or unhealthy. Individuals who create an unsafe or unhealthy situation will be tried in court by a jury of his/her peers.
We have the right to an excellent education. All students, including individuals, teachers, and visitors will work to increase the learning in every classroom and will work to prevent any distractions that take time from learning. Individuals who take time from classroom learning will be tried in court by a jury of his/her peers.
We have the right to respectful relationships. We have the right and the responsibility to treat others as we would like to be treated. Individuals who decide to be disrespectful will also be subject to consequences that may include loss of free time, extra assignments, time-out, or parent communication. Repeated disrespect will result in a trial by a judge and a jury of his/her peers.
We have the right to a fair trial. Individuals are assumed innocent until proven guilty. The trial will be held quickly and publicly so our community is aware of what is happening. The accused has the right to see and hear his/her accusers during the trial. The results of the trial will be reported publicly so our community is aware of the outcome.
We have the right to make decisions. Every individual, students and adults, in our MicroSociety has the skills and talents to make decisions that impact themselves, their classrooms, and our school. Positive decisions will make our society a welcoming, productive, and outstanding place to work. Poor decisions will result in action from the peacekeepers and the MicroSociety.
