Dr. Wayne Jones

Good afternoon PHCSE students, staff, and families,

Today, we received confirmation that a PHCSE employee who supports 6th grade has tested positive for COVID-19. To do our part in mitigating the spread of COVID-19, we believe it is important to share this information with you.

This employee was last in our school building on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at which time, some students and staff may have come in contact with them while at PHCSE. If you believe you have been in close contact with a member of our 6th-grade team for 15 minutes or more at a distance of 6 feet or less, please contact your health care provider. The CDC also recommends you closely monitor yourself for possible symptoms for the next 2 to 14 days. The CDC’s website provides a complete listing of symptoms and a self-checker: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html?utm_campaign=AC_CRNA. If you begin to exhibit symptoms related to COVID-19 and/or are tested for COVID-19, seek medical attention from a health-care provider, and please notify the school.

As a precautionary measure, we have decided to close PHCSE immediately through Monday, November 30. During this time, we will not offer Grab-and-Go Meals, but we will distribute Chromebooks between 9 am – 6 pm on Tuesday, November 17, and Wednesday, November 18 to educate students virtually. We have contacted the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) for additional guidance, and unless circumstances change, we anticipate reopening the building on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Prior to opening on Tuesday, the building will undergo required sanitation and cleaning in accordance with CDC, PDE, and DOH guidance.

The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We remain committed to keeping all members of our PHCSE community informed to ensure a safe and secure environment for all. Please don’t hesitate to email our Pandemic Response Committee at prc@phcharter.org if you would like to discuss any concerns you have regarding this information.

Sincerely,

Dr. Wayne Jones
