Teacher Residency Program

Have you ever thought about becoming an educator?   If you have your Bachelor’s Degree in any field, PHCSE’s Teacher Residency Program will put you on track to receive your teaching certification fast!

Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship is proud to initiate a Teacher Residency Program starting July of 2024.  Modeled after similar successful programs at Pittsburgh Public Schools and Propel Schools, the Teacher Residency Program aims to increase the number of diverse, certified educators in PA, and to retain teachers on a path to professional advancement at PHCSE.

Teacher Residents will earn their PA Teaching Certification for grades 7 – 12 through the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) Program offered in partnership with Point Park University.  Selected Teacher Residents will complete the ABCTE academic coursework while receiving support and mentoring from PHCSE and Point Park staff and faculty.  After obtaining certification, Teacher Residents will be required to obtain add-on certification for grades 4-8.

Teacher Residents will be hired as paraprofessionals with an annual salary and benefits.  After the successful completion of the apprentice year and obtaining their teaching certification, Teacher Residents will be promoted to a full-time Instructional Support Teacher position at PHCSE.
